After graduating from Cuero High School in 2004, Ben attended Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science. He then attended St. Mary’s University School of Law in San Antonio, Texas, where he earned his Doctor of Jurisprudence in 2011. During his time at St. Mary’s University School of Law, Ben enjoyed a great deal of success in the areas of oral and written advocacy. As a first-year law student, Ben was a member of the championship team in the 2008-2009 First-Year Moot Court Competition (an annual competition requiring the participation of all first-year law students) and he was named as the Outstanding Speaker of the competition. Thereafter, Ben was selected to compete nationally as a member of the St. Mary’s Mock Trial Team and he was elected by his peers to serve as the Chairman of the Board of Advocates. Shortly before his graduation from St. Mary’s University School of Law, Ben was named to the Order of the Barristers (a nationally recognized honor bestowed upon the top ten law students in the areas of oral and written advocacy).
